Condensed Milk Rusks

A rusk is a twice-baked biscuit that can be made from bread, bread dough, cake or quick-type doughs like this recipe. They have been around in South Africa since the 1690s.

What are rusks?

These delicious, rich, tasty homemade condensed milk rusks are really easy to make. The perfect rusk to dunk in coffee or tea!

MILK

EGG

BUTTER

SUGAR

FLOUR BAKING POWDER BAKING SODA SALT

Step 1 - whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt

Step 2 - Melt the Butter & Sugar together.

Step 3 - Whisk the egg and milk together.

Step 4 - Mix in the condensed milk, butter and milk mixtures to form a soft dough.

Step 5 - Press into a 9"x9" baking dish. Bake at 200°C/390F for 30-45 minutes.

Step 6 - sliced the cool baked dough and return it to the oven at 110°/230F until completely dry.

Step 7 - Dunk into a hot cup of tea or coffee and Enjoy!
